Challenges

  • Client wanted to build an enhanced people directory and people search based on the people information already stored in Office 365.  
  • It should also offer a concise view of profile to look at and a link to detailed profile 
  • Business objectives was to offer easy to use and people directory and people search feature to SharePoint Intranet users. 
  • People should be able to quickly filter based on alphabets and can also search people using specific keyword. 
  • When clicked on specific profile, it should show more details about person as follows; 
    • Department 
    • Designation 
    • Phone numbers 
    • Email address 
    • Organization hierarchy 
    • Link to more profile details and more 

Technical Objective

  • Design and develop an Native iOS Application as per the requirements of the client.
  • Fetching all the data from the first time from the documents uploaded and storing it locally in a database.

How it works

Solution

  • We built a custom jQuery-based component which can be easily plugged-in on any SharePoint online site 
  • This people directory component fetches data from existing Office 365 profiles and does not need any additional database 
  • When you hover over your mouse, it also displays contact card for quick contact information  
  • When you click on profile picture, it opens concise profile details with a link to more profile details 
  • Refiners allow user to refine results based on job title or department 
  • UI is mobile responsive and works excellent on smaller smartphone devices as well
