Turning workplace learning into a game, inside Microsoft Teams
How PSSPL built a gamified learning platform that lives inside Microsoft Teams, turning everyday work into points, achievements and a shared knowledge market for a Brazilian IT firm.

A learning platform people would actually return to
Our client, an IT firm in Brazil, already ran a web-based learning platform, but a separate website is easy to forget. They wanted learning to happen in the flow of work, inside Microsoft Teams, where their people already collaborate every day. The brief was an engaging, gamified learning experience delivered right there, accessible on web, desktop and mobile.
The Challenge
The Challenge
Learning has to be where people already are, and worth coming back to
- To genuinely lift learning across an organization, the experience had to sit inside Teams and be engaging enough that people chose to return. That meant more than a content library: it needed a game layer, points, achievements and leaderboards, that made learning social, visible and rewarding, all within a responsive Teams app.
- The aim was to make learning feel less like a task and more like a game, played in the same place people already work.
Technical Objectives
What the solution had to do
Custom Teams app
Build a custom application usable inside Microsoft Teams.
Gamified learning experience
Implement the learning platform as a Teams custom app with a game engine.
Azure-hosted web service
Deploy the app as an Azure web service, displayed within the Teams app.
Responsive on any device
Keep it highly responsive across Teams Web, Desktop and Mobile.
What PSSPL Built
A knowledge market inside Teams
PSSPL built a Microsoft Teams project with the Microsoft Teams Toolkit in React and Fluent UI, presented as custom personal tabs that hold the application logic, with a .NET Core backend deployed to Azure App Service. Content and learning data are stored in SharePoint Lists and Libraries. The result is a “knowledge market” inside Teams where employees make requests and offers, earn social learning points, climb a leaderboard and unlock achievements.
Learning that earns points
A game engine awards learning points that encourage people to learn and contribute, while achievements, a leaderboard of the most active people and a knowledge market of requests and offers make the whole thing social. Every user action is logged and analysed with Power BI, so the platform can shape each learner’s next best step rather than serving the same content to everyone.
How We Built It
Built end to end on the Microsoft stack
Hosting the app on Azure and storing content in SharePoint kept the whole solution inside the client’s Microsoft environment, fitting their identity and governance from the start while leaving their existing website untouched.

The Outcome
Learning that lives in the flow of work
Instead of a website people forget, learning now sits inside Teams and rewards participation as it happens. The game layer keeps people engaged, and Power BI analytics turn every interaction into insight the client can use to keep improving the experience.
In-the-flow learning
Learning lives inside Teams, on any device, not on a separate site.
Insight-driven
Power BI analytics on every action help refine each learner’s next step.
Engagement through play
Points, achievements and leaderboards keep people coming back.
Frictionless access
Single Sign-On and Teams-native design mean no second login and a familiar feel.
