The Challenge
The dealer was already doing great work in terms of having an effective inspection procedure in place, as each technician would start taping as soon as the car came in for servicing. The problem was at the stage of review, when the procedure became very time-consuming.
Given that the company operated through some 200+ service centers across the United States and processed over 10,000 vehicles per day, a more efficient method of reviewing the recordings was needed.
Some of the major challenges included:
- The regional managers devoted many hours every day to watching numerous walkaround videos.
- The manual inspection process slowed down the entire process.
- Background noise in the videos created a difficult environment for manual inspection.
